FAB Biz Blast – Dec 2019

NYC CITY AGENCIES TEAM UP TO PROVIDE SMALL BUSINESSES WITH ACCESSIBILITY GUIDELINES
Earlier this month, The New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), the NYC Business Improvement District (BID) Association, and Public Policy Lab announced the launch of Empowering Accessibility—a fully online resource that enables NYC small business owners to more easily understand their legal obligations in order to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

The digital platform includes information on the benefits of making a business accessible, physical and digital accessibility standards, the risks of accessibility lawsuits, and additional resources.

In addition, FAB FULTON reps received physical and digital accessibility training, as part of a city-wide effort to make sure BIDs are aware of accessibility obligations when working with businesses. Very soon, we will be visiting businesses in the FAB area with information that helps illustrate the Empowering Accessibility resources. You can also access tip sheets here, which outline the value of making your business accessible.

REMINDER: RAT ACADEMY TRAINING, THU., DEC. 5TH
It’s not too late! You can still RSVP to attend a FREE NYC Department of Health (DOH) training workshop to learn rat prevention methods.

The Rat Academy will take place Thu., Dec. 5 from 5:45 – 7:45 pm at the Bedford Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library (496 Franklin at Hancock) in Bed-Stuy. RSVP to leffertsplaceca@gmail.com

FAB FULTON partnered with local block associations, neighborhood organizations and the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID to make this program from the DOH possible.

GET INTO THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON!
On two Saturdays in December, FAB FULTON is rolling out the musical chops to attract shoppers and neighbors alike, as we bring back Holiday Caroling in Fowler Square!

The Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Inspirational Ensemble and Youth Choir will join us on Dec. 14, and musicians from Brooklyn Music School will lead the festivities on Dec. 21. On both days, from noon to 2 pm, anyone who stops by can grab complimentary warm refreshments while they sing their hearts out to familiar holiday tunes! There will also be collection boxes out on the plaza for donations to the New York Cares Coat Drive. We hope your staff and crew can drop by and sing along for a few!
