FAB Biz Blast – Mar 2023

IT’S A SPRING THING!

Our next Merchant Mixer hits the calendar at the start of the spring season! Make plans to join us on Tue., March 28 for another morning session, 8:30-10:30 am, when we’ll gather again for our first cups of joe for the day, and mingle among our neighbors. A Clinton Hill venue hosts this time: Vessel Bar and Grill (895 Fulton) will graciously open their doors to us so we may share information and catch up in a relaxed setting, right in the district. A rep from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to stop by with the latest resources for Brooklyn businesses as well.

Mark your calendars now for you or your lead staff persons to attend this FAB Small Business event! (And you can RSVP now: click here!)

LAST CALL FOR ART360 FG

Our signature event is set for Sat., May 13, and all the pieces are falling into place! If you are a Fort Greene FAB FULTON business and want to participate in the day’s activities, let us know. There are still opportunities to have your storefront painted by an artist, open your doors (and walls) up to display and feature local artists’ work, and even table sampling on Fowler Square! Contact us ASAP here!

FAB x STREET LAB: DEMO DAY

Thanks to all of you in Fort Greene who signed up for the first-ever Demo Day on FAB Fulton! We’re teaming up with Street Lab on Sat., March 25 to debut a new pop-up program that enables short demonstrations and workshops to promote small businesses while creatively activating the street. We can hardly wait to try it out!

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

FAB Fulton is home to almost 50 women-led businesses in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, and this month, we’re dropping in on a few of them! Throughout March, on our social media feeds, you’ll learn more about the fabulous women making moves and the thriving businesses they pour themselves into every day. Follow along with us and support your women-business-owner neighbors; click below to follow FAB on Instagram if you don’t already!

BE A BOARD MEMBER

Help shape the future of the FAB Fulton business improvement district and contribute to brainstorming, planning, and more! You’re already a BID member; take it a step further and be a BOARD MEMBER. It’s a commitment of about 4 hour-long board meetings a year, plus the opportunity to join committees that will have 2-3 hour-long meetings over the course of a year. Read over the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) here, and contact us with any questions!

IT STARTED IN CLINTON HILL

It’s been nine years since the soft neon glow of a familiar name graced the storefront at 919 Fulton. And since then, Emily and its spin-off Emmy Squared, have become regulars on “best” burger and pizza lists. The Commercial Observer recently profiled the business and its parent company, and how they are poised to grow to over 20 outlets, including Chicago, Miami, and Abu Dhabi! We’re proud it all started on Fulton Street; click the link to read more!

DECODING THE CITY
FAB Fulton presents a “town hall” aimed at providing community members with information about the work of city agencies that affect our neighborhood. On Tue., April 11, reps from the DSNY, DOB, Con Edison, and National Grid will speak about current and upcoming projects happening in our district that may affect residents and businesses and will answer questions from attendees. Capacity is limited, RSVP now to join us at Greenlight Bookstore in Fort Greene!

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

Hosted by New York Cares and powered by Citi, join this virtual discussion that will cover financial management and preparing to ask for a bank loan, managing cash flow, and how to gain access to capital. Sign up  now for this FREE online event, set for Tue., March 28, 6-7 pm.
