Mayor Adams, ‘ITSALLBLACKMUSIC PRESENTS’ Announce Block Party Lineups and Conversations Celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and ‘ITSALLBLACKMUSIC PRESENTS’ recently announced the lineups for the free “5X5 Block Party Series” and live conversations between leaders in hip hop. The Brooklyn event is slated for Saturday, Aug. 5, at Fulton Street and Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill.
The event will feature an exceptional lineup of renowned DJs and seminal artists alongside street art installations, food vendors, interactive experiences, and an educational entertainment talk. Additionally, the city is collaborating with Pixis Drones to create and perform free drone light shows honoring iconic hip-hop imagery.
This is not a FAB Fulton-produced event. The production schedule for the event as we know it is below.
- Street Closures on Fulton from Washington Avenue to Downing Street.
- NO PARKING on SATURDAY 5:00 am to 11:00 pm in the following immediate areas: Fulton St between Washington and Classon Aves; Cambridge Place between Gates Avenue and Fulton Street; St. James Place, between Gates Ave and Lefferts Pl; Grand Ave between Fulton St and Lefferts Pl, and Waverly Ave between Fulton St and Atlantic Ave. (Call 311 for relocated vehicles.)
- Stage, port-a-john, and bike rack deliveries, equipment load-in, and set-ups start at 8:00 am. Loadout begins at 8:00 pm with vendors first, through trash, port-a-john, and bike rack pickups at 11:00 pm.
- Jitu Weusi Plaza (Fulton at Grand) will be open, however, the regular plaza furniture will not be available.
- Performances from 3:00 – 9:00 pm include DJ Mister Cee, DJ Prince Paul, Masta Ace, Jungle Brothers, Smif-N-Wessun, Dead Prez, DJ Enuff, KRS-One, and more. The drone show runs from 9:15 to 9:30 pm. You can see the complete lineup here.
Please have your staff, customers, and clients anticipate MTA bus route changes for the B25 and B26 lines on Saturday, Aug., 5, from 2:00 – 10:00 pm:
B25 buses will be detoured from Fulton St between Vanderbilt Ave and Franklin Ave. For eastbound service, consider the stops on Fulton St at Clermont Ave or Classon Ave. For westbound service, consider the stops on Fulton St at Bedford Ave or Vanderbilt Ave. Buses also make requested stops along Atlantic Ave in both directions. Eastbound missed stops: Along Fulton St from Clinton Ave to Grand Ave. Westbound missed stops: Along Fulton St from Franklin Ave to Washington Ave.
B26 buses will be detoured from Fulton St between Vanderbilt Ave and Franklin Ave. For eastbound service, consider the stops on Fulton St at Clermont Ave or Putnam Ave at Classon Ave. For westbound service, consider the stops on Putnam Ave at Franklin Ave or Fulton St at Vanderbilt Ave. Buses also make requested stops along Atlantic Ave in both directions. We anticipate this will be a heavily attended event, so we encourage you to share this information with your clients, customers, and staff, to anticipate heavy traffic due to street closures and no parking zones. We also encourage you to remain open for business as it could be a great day with the influx of visitors to our neighborhood. There will be a consistent NYPD presence at the event from 2:00 pm and on if you should have any issues.
On the Fort Greene side of the FAB Fulton district, BAM will host a very cool panel event (see below), also on Saturday, a live talk presented by BLACK GIRLS ROCK! and the renowned DJ, author, and producer, Beverly Bond. Featuring Rapper Rapsody, Actress and DJ Dede Lovelace, and Newcomer Kenya Vaun, in a discussion exploring the future of Hip-Hop and the contributions of women in all facets of the culture – from the broad spectrum of emcees and performers to the DJs, storytellers, dancers, and cultural content creators.
