NYC IS CRACKING DOWN ON YOUR LOCAL WEED BODEGA

The inaugural licenses are in place for the legal sale of cannabis and products containing THC. And if your smoke shop wasn’t on the list, you might be on the Pot Task Force’s radar, for fines, seizures, and possible arrests. Read more in this Bloomberg report, here.

NEW TIPS FOR FIGHTING PESTS

Last month, DSNY’s Caroline Bragdon shared a stream of useful tips with BIDs across the city to help support widespread rat reduction efforts.

One easy pointer for food vendors to keep in mind ins to “eliminate grease” from indoor and outdoor areas immediately. Rats love the scent of grease. Scrubbing down greasy food stained areas with as little as 10% bleach solution added to hot water helps erase grease slicks. Using high quality thick trash bags helps to cut down on leaking and food spills. Damaged bags should be resealed or rebagged immediately. And please, put your trash bags curbside as close to pick up time as possible.

Deep flower pots are a NO-NO. Outdoor planters should be shallow, no more than 8” tall. Shallow planters with plants that grow straight up and high creating a clear line of sight. Avoid bushy, crawling low lying plants where rodents can hide their burrows.
