PRIVATE-SECTOR VACCINE REQUIREMENTS SOON TO BE OPTIONAL
On September 20, Mayor Eric Adams announced that the private-sector vaccine mandate will become optional on November 1. While this additional flexibility returns the choice to individuals and their employers, the City reiterates that the best way to protect ourselves and our loved ones is to get vaccinated and get boosted.

New York City continues to strongly urge private employers to put in place their own vaccine mandates, as the city will continue implementation of the city worker vaccination mandate for its own employees. Read more here.

WE NEED MORE HAPPY HOUR POWER!
A FABulous “thank you” goes out to Ojalá Authentic Mexican for hosting our merchant mixer last month, and another special shout out to the few businesses that did stop by during happy hour to chat and enjoy DELICIOUS, fresh Mexican fare! We wish MORE Fulton Street-area small businesses would attend the gatherings meant for you to get to know each other better and create connections, but we won’t give up! An event in Fort Greene is next; stay tuned for details!

We want to hear from you; the mixer was planned as a RESPONSE to MANY businesses who noted they want more “connection” to their fellow merchants on and around Fulton Street. Do you have a specific idea you want to share? If you think a mixer is a good event, but want to propose a different time (breakfast? lunch? weekend?), let us know your thoughts on that, as well! Send us an email anytimecontactus@faballiance.org.

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY SAFETY TIPS
Most e-bikes and e-scooters use powerful batteries that can cause fires, even explosions, and serious injury or death if they aren’t handled correctly.

Use these tips shared by New York Attorney General Letitia James to protect yourself and your delivery staff.

  • Buy your e-bike and battery from a trusted manufacturer
  • Maintain your battery by carefully checking it from time to time
  • Store your battery in a safe place
  • Charge your battery using only the cord and power adapter provided by the manufacturer
  • Dispose of your battery at a battery-recycling location

There is actually proposed new City legislation to help curb the many battery fires in e-bikes and electric scooters (over 120 this year!). Take precautions with your delivery staff’s e-bikes and scooters, especially if they are charged or stored inside or next to your business location.
