COUNTING DOWN TO SPRING!

ICYMI: Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced the selection of a nonprofit development partnership to transform state-owned land at 1024 Fulton Street in Clinton Hill into a mixed-use, 100 percent affordable housing development.
The redevelopment represents a more than $111 million investment and will be developed and wholly owned by a partnership between the nonprofit organizations Fifth Avenue Committee, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, and One Brooklyn Health — each with deep roots in Brooklyn. The selected proposal responds to feedback gathered through an extensive community visioning process conducted from fall through winter 2024-2025.
The approximately 149,000-square-foot development will include 125 affordable rental units, a 1,000-square-foot health clinic, a 27,000-square-foot intergenerational community center operated by Fort Greene Council, and sustainable design features including Passive House certification, all-electric systems, and a green roof.
The project will undergo a public environmental review as the next step towards demolition of the existing long-vacant structure.
LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE LADIES
March is Women’s History Month, and we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that the FAB Fulton district is home to nearly 60 woman-owned businesses! These spaces help make FAB Fulton a vibrant place to shop, dine, and connect. From retail and wellness to food, beauty, and professional services, women entrepreneurs play a vital role in shaping our neighborhood’s character and success.
We encourage the community to show their support this month — stop by and give these ladies their flowers by booking a service, buying a product, or making a reservation. Or give them a complimentary shout-out on social media and a glowing review online! And keep it going all year long, by shopping local, dining local, and uplifting the women-owned businesses that keep FAB Fulton thriving. Locals keep local businesses open. The full list:

Spring is almost here on FAB Fulton! Don’t forget to spring clocks ahead for Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, March 8 (change your clocks at 2 a.m.) — longer days and warmer weather are officially on the way.
The FAB team is gearing up for another season of free, family-friendly programming, with outdoor art, live music, movies, and community events now in the works. Even better: the public plazas reopen in less than one month, returning on April 1. Also, our Safety Ambassador team will return later this month to canvas our corridor and provide assistance throughout the district.

A LITTLE SPRING CLEANING
It’s been a cold, rough, and yes, dirty winter. But let’s turn the corner on both the weather and keeping our area clean! Here’s a few quick tips to get us back on track:
- No dumping! All commercial spaces should have a carting service, and residents must organize trash in accordance with DSNY rules
- If you have large items (mattresses, etc), call 311 for guidance
- There are currently three FAB bin sites in our district where our maintenance team will be coordinating trash drops for DSNY pick up. Please DO NOT block these bins with parked cars. They will be ticketed by NYPD or DSNY (or both).
- Please pick up and dispose of dog waste. There are currently three FAB pet waste stations in the district; we will try our best to keep them stocked with bags for your convenience.
LAST CALL!
Fort Greene Park is seeking creative local youth storytellers (photographers, artists, writers) who are connected to Fort Greene to collaborate on the Community Heroes project. Proximity is a core value of the project, so creatives who live, work, or have a relationship with the neighborhood will be prioritized. There is a stipend, as well. Youth aged 14 to 22 are eligible.
Sign up here, ASAP; the deadline to apply is March 6.
