WHAT’S NEW ON FULTON:
New Spaces, Familiar Faces and What’s Coming Soon
There’s been plenty of movement along Fulton Street this summer, with several familiar businesses reopening or relocating, new businesses putting down roots, and exciting new concepts on the horizon.
Recycle a Bicycle has reopened at its new home at 450 Grand Street, while Olivino Wines has returned to 903 Fulton, becoming the first tenant to reopen following the extensive renovation of the building’s commercial spaces. Just next door, Yafa Deli has also relocated back to its original home at the corner of Fulton and Clinton. New to the neighborhood, Anya Yoga opened its doors at 900 Fulton in late July, offering a full schedule of yoga classes at all levels, while Jade Wellness Spa at 971 Fulton is now welcoming appointments. Daytime favorite Maya Congee Café expanded with dinner service back in July, with a full menu of savory congee and slow-cooked dishes, complete with rice wine pairings. And there’s more on the way: the Clinton Hill side of the district will soon have its second state-licensed dispensary, Buddy’s at 858 Fulton, and Pure Paws Veterinary Care is set to move across the street from their current location to new digs at 1 Putnam. Over in Fort Greene, the team behind Strange Delight is developing Triangle, a new concept coming to the former Island Shack space at Fowler Square Plaza. Laobra Cafe has grabbed the spot next door to Candor Candy in the historic ironclad storefront at 664 Fulton and is working on a fall opening. And at Fulton and S. Portland, Capiz is preparing to open in the former Oma Grassa space, bringing a Filipino bakery and restaurant to the corner.
Whether you’re returning to an old favorite, trying somewhere new, or watching a new storefront take shape, there’s a lot to look forward to across the FAB Fulton district!
OUTDOOR DINING IS BACK ON THE MENU!
Love dining outdoors? There’s good news for NYC restaurant-goers: Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed legislation this week making outdoor roadway dining a permanent, year-round feature of New York City’s streetscape. That means participating restaurants will no longer have to remove their outdoor dining setups for the winter, opening up more opportunities to enjoy a meal, coffee, or drink outdoors throughout the year. NYC DOT will be developing new rules for winterizing these setups, so look for more dining options on Fulton Street and throughout the City as the program rolls forward.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO COMPLY WITH DSNY TRASH BIN RULES
Fines start soon, NYC!
Starting September 8, residential properties with 1-9 units MUST use an official NYC Bin for trash, or face a $50 fine.
Avoid a fine; get your bin. NYC Bins are available for sale at Home Depot stores throughout the city. Get more info here.
WHAT TO DO WHEN IT FLOODS
New Yorkers who experience storm-related damage to their home, business, property, or belongings should report it here. Photos and details about what happened can help the City build a clearer picture of the storm’s impact across the five boroughs.
The City uses damage information to assess the scale and severity of an event and determine whether New York City may be eligible to seek federal disaster assistance. Even if you have already cleaned up or made repairs, please submit a report if you experienced damage. Reporting damage does not guarantee financial assistance, but a complete accounting of impacts can help support the City’s assessment.

- File a 311 Service Request – for conditions that need a city response (basement flooding, sewer backups, street flooding, downed trees, power outages, structural concerns, mold, blocked catch basins)
FINAL FAB FLICKS DATE HAS A NEW LOCATION
One last film remains on our FAB Flicks slate for the summer season, and we need you to send the good vibes out now for no rain!
We’ll move to Gates Avenue Plaza (Fulton at Gates in Fort Greene) to present a movie for the first time — “Cool Runnings” is the Disney favorite we’ll screen on Thursday, Sept. 17. The FREE, family-friendly event will begin at dusk (around 7:00 pm). Seating is extremely limited, so please bring your own chair if possible. More info here. (To our neighbors on Gates Avenue, we’ll do our best to clear the area adjacent to your homes by 9:30 pm.)

IT’S STILL SUMMER: JOIN US OUTSIDE FOR MOVIES, MUSIC + ART!
We’re winding down the season, but there’s still so much ahead! September is packed with FREE plaza events we hope will entice you to still play like it’s summer!
The final Jazz at Jitu date at Jitu Weusi Plaza (Fulton + Grand) this season is Thursday, September 10. We’ll welcome Steve Cromity & Friends back to the plaza to wow the crowds with jazz standards and classics. Seating is very limited, so bring a chair if you can. This set begins at 5 pm, due to the earlier sunsets.
On Saturday, September 12, we’ll host a fun, creative afternoon for the whole family to enjoy! ART360 is back, and our theme this year is “Color the Corner.” We invite you to express yourself through tape art collage, glass bead jewelry-making, chalk art, and tote stencils. Plus, very soon, we will have sign-ups for free pet portrait appointments! ART360 will be at Jitu Weusi Plaza from 12 – 4 pm. (Rain date is Sunday, September 13.)
And we’re headed to Fowler Square Plaza again (Fulton + Lafayette) for happy hour jazz sets with the super-talented faculty and staff of Brooklyn Music School. Come relax and enjoy the live music on two Fridays, September 11 and 18, at 4:30 pm.
